Terms of engagement

Version 2.0 · Applies to assessments instructed on or after 9 July 2026

1. Parties and formation

These terms apply between Stage1Energy Ltd, registered in Wales, company no. 17222440 (“we”, “us”) and the client named at booking (“you”) for each Site Feasibility Assessment (“assessment”). A contract forms when we confirm your instruction in writing after payment or agreement of invoice terms. These terms prevail over any terms you present unless we agree otherwise in writing.

2. Scope of service

We provide a remote, evidence-based feasibility screening of the roof(s) you name, using public and remote data (satellite imagery, typical-year weather data, published cost bands) together with any consumption data you supply. The deliverable is a written feasibility dossier in PDF form. This is the earlier feasibility stage that decides whether a physical survey is worth commissioning — not a lighter or cheaper survey.

The service expressly excludes: site inspection, measured survey, structural calculation or sign-off, electrical design, planning application, DNO application, procurement advice, and installation of any kind.

Rework. Each dossier must deliver a clear go or no-go verdict with the evidence supporting it. If a delivered dossier does not meet that standard, Stage1Energy will rework it at no additional cost. This does not extend to changes of scope, additional sites, or outcomes the client disagrees with on commercial grounds.

3. Deliverable and turnaround

Standard delivery is within 5 working days per site; priority delivery within 2 working days per site. Time runs from the later of (a) receipt of payment or the 50% deposit and (b) receipt of the inputs we ask for at confirmation. The clock pauses while we await inputs from you. You may instruct as many sites as you need; each site is a separate assessment at the per-site fee. Assessments are booked in order of receipt. Capacity is limited; if a requested date cannot be met, we will say so before taking payment. Every dossier is reviewed before release.

4. Indicative status of outputs

Assessment outputs are early-stage feasibility results and are feasibility screenings for investment decisions. They are not design, procurement, or construction documents. Built from satellite and metered data, validated against twelve months of metered output from an operating commercial installation. Stage1Energy is a feasibility screening, not a precision measurement. We aim for an answer accurate enough to make a confident pursue-or-park decision — typically within ±15% — with every material figure validated against real data (our benchmark case sat within ±10% of twelve months of metered output). Exact yield and returns are confirmed at survey and design stage. Cost and return figures may differ from values confirmed after site survey, structural assessment, DNO review, and firm installer quotation. The Important Notice section of the dossier forms part of these terms.

5. Reliance

The dossier is addressed to, and may be relied on only by, the named client. You may circulate it within your organisation and share it with your advisers for information, but no third party may rely on it and we owe no duty to any third party.

6. Professional verification

Structural, wind, grid, and planning outputs are screening flags. You acknowledge they require verification by chartered or otherwise appropriately qualified professionals before any commitment to works. They are not certification.

7. Your inputs

Where you supply information (consumption data, roof plans, tenancy details), we rely on it as accurate. If supplied information later proves materially wrong, we may re-run the assessment at a reduced re-run fee agreed in advance.

8. Fees and payment

Fees are fixed per site: £1,250 standard, £1,750 priority, exclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment is by card at booking (processed by Stripe), or by invoice with 50% payable before work starts and the balance payable on delivery within 14 days of invoice. We may charge interest on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

9. Cancellation

You may cancel in writing at any time. Before work starts: full refund of sums paid. After modelling has begun: a pro-rata charge for work done, with any balance refunded. This is a business-to-business contract; consumer cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 do not apply.

10. Liability

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with an assessment, however arising, is limited to the fees paid for that assessment. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of contract, or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Intellectual property

We retain all rights in our models, methods, and templates. On payment in full you receive a perpetual licence to use and circulate the dossier for the purposes described in clause 5.

12. Data protection

Personal data and client-supplied consumption data are used only to deliver the assessment and are handled in accordance with our privacy policy.

13. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
